England beat Pakistan to win ICRC Twenty20 Tournament

England have won the first ever ICRC T20 International Cricket Tournament for people with disabilities, prevailing over Pakistan in the final.
England put up a fine performance with the bat to beat Pakistan by 19 runs at BKSP ground No. 3 on Thursday.
Amidst a hot sunny morning, the Final Match of the ICRC T20 International Cricket Tournament progressed in the BKSP Ground 3. England won the toss and opted to bat first under sublime cricketing conditions. The openers Alex Hammond and Gordon Laidwan provided a swift start to their team. Laidwan was aggressive and was hitting the ball comfortably all around the ground. Adding six boundaries to his innings, he scored a rapid 40 runs from 28 balls before getting caught behind the stumps from the ball of Fayyaz. Hammond was bowled by Ejaz but batted sensibly as like the other matches and scored a good 30 runs. England progressed at a good rate throughout the innings, picking up 79 in the first ten before drawing the curtains of their innings at 175/4. Pakistan’s bowling did not click properly today, the bowlers were unsuccessful at most case, and could not hold the scoring rate back. Pakistan needed to bat sensibly and aggressively as well to get over this mammoth total. They did bat aggressively, but lacked a touch of sensibility. Pakistan openers, Hasnain and Matloob started off pretty well, showed the required aggression to chase down a mammoth 176 runs. Pakistan was at 39 runs inside the first 5 overs when Hasnain (26) fell to Bridges. Shortly afterwards, Matloob was bowled and Jahanzaib trapped in front of the wickets. Rehan was instrumental yet again with an aggressive 36 runs and as long as he was in the middle, Pakistan’s hopes were alive. Nihar Alam tried his part during his stay, but in the end he fell to Fred Bridges, who took 4 wickets in the match. In the end, England won the match by 19 runs and won the ICRC T20I Cricket Tournament 2015 title.
Fred Bridges was adjudged the Man of the Match for his wonderful bowling of 4-0-24-4. Callum Flynn was awarded with the trophy of the Best Batsman and later on the Player of the Tournament for his wonderful flow of runs throughout the tournament and Fayyaz Ahmed was the Best Bowler of the tournament for his wicket taking abilities and economic bowling in all the matches he played. The Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony was His Excellency Arif Khan Joy, the Honorable Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports. Aminul Islam Bulbul, former cricketer of Bangladesh National Cricket Team, and Shafiqul Haque Hira, Honorable Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, was present in the ceremony as Special Guests. The tournament, which is the first of its kind, has been organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross along with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan and Bangladesh Cricket Board.
